how long can tamarind be kept in the fridge?

is the tamarind still good after a year in the fridge?
Well seeing as a tamarind is a tropical plant I am not quite sure why you would put it in the fridge but after it has been left in the fridge for over a year im sure it is probably dead. lol

I would keep it wrapped tightly in a ziplock bag and perhaps even wrapped with plastic wrap for no more than 8 months. Most items loose flavor like than and since tamarind are so close to dates the consistency may produce mold or something else.

my mom uses a lot of cooking in her food
she never refridgerated it and it lasts ages
its probably good
sniff it and if it smells good, use i t!
